Director Identification Number (DIN) is a unique 8-digit identification number required by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs for any person intending to be a director of a company. DIN is a one-time registration valid for a lifetime. It is mandatory for all directors of private limited companies, public companies, OPCs, and Section 8 companies. DIN can be obtained through the SPICe+ form (during incorporation) or Standalone DIR-3 form.
Apply through SPICe+ (for new company incorporation) or DIR-3 form (standalone) → Fill personal details, educational qualifications, and contact information → Upload scanned documents (PAN, Aadhaar, photo, address proof) → Pay the application fee → Verify through DSC or EVC → DIN issued upon verification by MCA
Go to mca.gov.in and access DIR-3 or SPICe+ form
Enter personal details, qualification, and contact info
Upload PAN, Aadhaar, photo, and address proof
Pay the DIN application fee of ₹500
Sign with DSC and submit
DIN is generated and communicated via email
